But I do remember that the Listener was very important to her career as it published some early stories, and that was entirely due to Andrew Mason, its then literary editor. My inadequate tribute to him is here, http://quoteunquotenz.blogspot.com/2009/01/andrew-mason.html, and there is a link to Denis Welch's.Stephen Stratfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00426799380228308536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-27951882943116186312010-12-10T16:53:38.628+13:002010-12-10T16:53:38.628+13:00Keri, that is odd about the Wellington Festival pr...Keri, that is odd about the Wellington Festival programme. I'm pretty sure that Shonagh's husband died before she was famous enough to appear at litfests, and I know for certain that he wasn't a bank manager but a journalist. Never believe what you read, etc.

And, while I am very fond of Shonagh, I believe that some of her anecdotes might have been slightly embellished. I have always regarded them as drafts for her real fiction.Stephen Stratfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00426799380228308536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-74779583774072982062010-12-05T21:46:04.443+13:002010-12-05T21:46:04.443+13:007 vs 27 vs 2Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-28998197953488783672010-12-03T21:23:51.372+13:002010-12-03T21:23:51.372+13:00I am utterly astonished that ANY writer would stic...I am utterly astonished that ANY writer would stick round in a back room -without dinner-for any length of time. Was it also without drink? Then, totally unbelieveable...

Anyway, I have neither time nor interest in Shona Koea's writing so I dont paticularly care (but I am intrigued that at least one of my Wellington Festival's programmes describes her husband as a bank manager...)Keri Hnoreply@blogger.com
