It isn't an exact quote, not as close as the Holst in "Call Any Vegetable", but it's close enough. There is also a very strong whiff in this piece of Hindemith's Kammermusik #1, from the start but especially (in the Ensemble Modern version) at 22 seconds in.Stephen Stratfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00426799380228308536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-73809468693179430432010-01-13T15:01:00.738+13:002010-01-13T15:01:00.738+13:00"Surely you recognise the quote from the open..."Surely you recognise the quote from the opening bars of Ravel's piano concerto in G?"

Really?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-56520021918899264442010-01-12T22:00:56.617+13:002010-01-12T22:00:56.617+13:00Dave asks 'Why "Peaches en Regalia" ...Dave asks 'Why "Peaches en Regalia" for the wife?'

Simple. At least relative to me, that makes you a young sophisticate.

Paul - "Valley Girl" is a strong candidate for the generic ringtone. Currently it is "Son of Mr Green Genes" because after "Peaches" it is my favourite FZ tune, because it is one of the few I can sort-of play, and also because I was trying to stay with Hot Rats. But it isn't very assertive.

"G-Spot Tornado" might work better. It's fast and loud and people would say "WTF is that?" and I could say "Surely you recognise the quote from the opening bars of Ravel's piano concerto in G?"Stephen Stratfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00426799380228308536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-88000444539246462142010-01-11T23:20:51.395+13:002010-01-11T23:20:51.395+13:00Valley Girl.Valley Girl.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08024440694895271805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2131514811483888026.post-25586094099597082102010-01-11T11:19:24.690+13:002010-01-11T11:19:24.690+13:00What can I say?
